INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING- FDM
Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation on FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing.
This session covers the different rapid prototyping technologies and a brief history, focusing on FDM 3D printing and how printers work today.
We’ll review printer parts, safety basics, common printing techniques, and best practices. You’ll also learn where to find design files, how slicing software works, and what settings to focus on.
The session wraps up with a demo using PrusaSlicer, showing the full process from STL (model) file to print.
Time permitting, prints will be started during the class, with pickup available if desired.
This orientation is ideal for anyone new to 3D printing or looking to use The MINT’s FDM printers. Attendees will receive access to the printer reservation calendar after the session.
We hope to see you there!

This class is a hands-on continuation of our Intro to CAD session, designed for those who want to apply CAD skills to real-world projects using Onshape, a modern cloud-based CAD tool.
The class is almost entirely project-based. Attendees will work through guided examples to create:
• One single-piece part
• One multi-piece part (2+ components)
• One example using image tracing and scaling.
If time allows, we’ll explore additional examples and work through scenarios based on interests and project needs.
This session is ideal for those who want to move beyond the basics and gain confidence using CAD in practical, real-world contexts. We hope to see you there!

Rapid Prototyping – Resin (SLA) Printing Orientation
Tuesday, March 10th / 6PM-8PM
Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation in Resin/SLA (Stereolithography) 3D printing.
We’ll kick things off with a quick overview of rapid prototyping technologies, with a focus on resin/SLA printing.
From there, we’ll explore the history of resin printing and dive into how resin printers work, including key safety considerations. Along the way, we’ll cover common printing techniques, tips for best results, and how to turn digital designs into physical parts.
We’ll review websites for finding design files, discuss slicing software and recommended settings, and walk through best practices.
The session will conclude with a live demo using Chitubox and an STL file of your choice, showing the full workflow from model to print. If time allows, we’ll run as many prints as possible during the session.Print pickup can be arranged afterward if desired.
This orientation is perfect for anyone new to 3D printing or interested in using The MINT’s resin printers. After the class, all Mint Members will receive access to the printer reservation calendar. We hope to see you there!
** NOTE THAT THE DEMO WILL REQUIRE USING PPE - Safety gloves are provided and required to handle liquid resin and the printers. In addition, eye glasses/coverings are recommended and will be provided. If you require any specialized PPE, please reach out to discuss accommodations.***
